I own this cookbook. Although it's several years old, I still use it often. The Red Hat Society Cookbook was published in 2006 and features more than 1,000 recipes. There is literally something for every taste.

The 608 page book is one of my favorites. How can you go wrong when the first four chapters are all about dessert? There is also a section devoted to cooking for one or two, which is perfect if you're single or an empty nester.

All of the recipes are easy to follow and use common ingredients. Even if you're like me and own an extensive collection of cookbooks, you can go wrong with this one. (Remember, there is no such thing as TOO MANY cookbooks… even though my husband is inclined to disagree.)

Some of my favorite recipes include meatloaf in a mug, crunchy-top coffee cake, ham and cheese mashed potatoes, honey mustard chicken and bread pudding for two. Honestly, the list goes on and on.

In addition to recipes, the cookbook is made up of stories and photographs that were submitted by "Red Hat Ladies," from coast to coast. The best of the best made it to print.

For those of you who are unaware, The Red Hat Society is a nationwide organization of women, age 50 and older, who love to spend time together (often spreading good will), wear outrageous hats and eat dessert… not necessarily in that order.

The Red Hat Society Cookbook makes a great gift. I've purchased it for a few friends and family members who can't say enough about it. If you're in search of a WONDERFUL cookbook, this one certainly fits the bill.
